In 1906 Keinen authored a seven-volume picture book for art students entitled Keinen Shūgajō (i.e., Keinen’s Album of Picture Lessons). A variety of objects were depicted in the book, including flowers, fruits and birds. The twenty-three pictures of the latter that were included in volumes 1-3 are shown in this gallery. Click on a picture to enlarge it. Because the pictures were intended to be traced or copied by students with limited drawing skill, Keinen simplified both picture composition and coloring.
